Vocational Education and Training and Careers: Week 8, Term 3, 2020

The VET and Careers space has been very active over the last couple of terms. Students are busy selecting their subjects for Year 11, working through their applications to UAC (University Admissions Centre) and considering their future work options and pathways.

Over 30 students became qualified in Asbestos Awareness and Construction Induction (White Card) training. If your son is in Year 10, 11 or 12 and is keen to obtain their Asbestos and White Card in Term 4 please register their interest with Mr Hausen. Both qualifications are required if your son is keen to work or do work experience in the Trade Industry.

Some of our Year 12 Accredited students have taken advantage of the flexibility their senior study package provides by commencing work full-time on the Extended Work Experience Program. We have students participating in the UC Connect Embedded Schools Program, which allows students to gain an ATAR equivalent even if they have studied an Accredited package to gain entry to the University of Canberra.

With the different climate that we all find ourselves in this year, many plans for a ‘GAP’ year of travelling around the world have had to be put on hold.

Jobs are plentiful like they are going out of fashion at the moment, a number of 1^st year Apprentice positions are available along with retail and hospitality positions leading into the Christmas period.
