Year 8 is the first year of secondary education and represents a significant step on the students' journey to become independent learners.

Years 9 and 10

During Years 9 and 10 students are working towards attainment of their first public certificate and laying foundations for Years 11 and 12.  Many jobs and apprenticeships require the successful completion of the Year 10 Certificate.

Students in Yrs 9 and 10 are expected to undertake 8 individual subjects per year.  Six subjects are Core subjects that all Yr 9 -10 students must undertake.  The remaining two subjects may be elected by the student.  Elective subjects may be taken for 1 or 2 years.

Accelerated Study

Some students are offered the opportunity to enrol in senior courses as a way of accelerating their academic progress. Arrangements for Accelerated study are managed via Director Teaching and Learning.

Talented Student Program

The Talented Student Program provides guidance and assistance to students who are participating in elite level co curricula activities.

Australian School Based Apprenticeships

Students who are interested in forming links with an employer whilst remaining at school may enrol in an Australian School Based Apprenticeship (ASBA).Students can participate in the ASBA program during their school years 9 to 12, provided they are 15 years or over. ASBA Students must remain at school or college after entering into a training contract, and  are required to attend structured workplace training on a regular basis.
