Schoolwide Pedagogy

Innovative Designs for Enhancing Achievements in School

In 2006, the College Board made the decision to become involved in the IDEAS process with the University of Southern Queensland. IDEAS is a process of school renewal that involves the whole school community at all levels in discovering existing strengths and the challenges facing it in the future. Through the process, teachers, parents and students identify values that are shared and a direction that is designed to take the College in to the future. Together, teachers and students develop an approach to teaching and learning that is the basis for all learning experiences within the College.

The IDEAS process has five distinct Phases, linked in a conceptual sequence. These are the questions we address at each stage.

Initiating: Who will facilitate the process? How will we manage the process? Who will record the history of our journey?

Discovering: What are we doing that is most successful? What is not working as well as we would like?

Envisioning: What do we hope our school will look like in the future? What is our conceptualisation of school-wide pedagogy?

Actioning: How will we create a tripartide action plan? How will we work towrads the alignment of school processes?

Sustaining: What progress have we made towards school-wide pedagogy?

Where are we on this journey?
